Chapter 12 - Staying In Your Higher Self
We are capable of having feelings of very different kinds at the same time. Also, any feeling can be felt to various degrees. A moment of empathy for a person who you continue to resent, for example, does not place you in your higher self. You are in your higher self when no aspect of your current feelings or reactions are destructive, and you have nothing but constructive feelings in your heart.

As simple as this may sound, it is a challenge for many people because there are so many destructive feelings that are culturally excused or promoted, while so little is done by many of us to understand how people get to be the way they are.

At some point, because of your overall love, motives, and identifications, the only time you are not in your higher self is when you rarely and momentarily have a feeling such as resentment or anger.

What can account for the motives and identifications that incline a person toward feelings consistent with love?

What is your feelings toward all others? Can you forgive? Do you ever feel empathy or compassion? Do you sometimes justify hatred or revenge? Do you identify with others as a whole? Who do you sincerely wish to be?

Somehow, you must stop passing on the pain you have received from others. Sincere love for others, including the misled, is essential to achieving peace and tranquility.
