The idea of extracting energy from space was claimed to be true by Nikola Tesla in the late 1880s. A patent numbered US 7,379,286 B2 and dated May 27, 2008 US was granted to Bernard Haisch, of Redwood City, California and Garret Moddel of Boulder, Colorado. It seems to support this idea.
Despite much skepticism, many famous physicists have investigated the possibility that nature makes energy available everywhere. In pursuit of this, Max Planck developed the concept of zero-point energy in 1911. From then on, a great deal of research has been done.
Since about 1984, the recognition of the work of Hendrik Casimir and Steve Lamoreaux is regarded as proof that zero point energy is real.
There are many research organization pursuing the Casimir effect and several aspects of zero-point energy. They include NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and many others.
Eventually, the opposition from existing energy companies will be overcome. The cost of energy delivery will be trivial. This will have enormous positive consequences for everyone.
